FAQ for Membership Renewal & Profile Management

Q. [for existing members only] I get an error that there is no record of an account associated with my email address.

A. Use the e-mail address provided to you within instructions we e-mailed to you (we checked it and it worked). That is the e-mail address that we currently have on file for you and it was the one you used when you originally registered with us. You can change it once you log in to your profile. I would recommend that you actually type the e-mail address in, as opposed to copying and pasting it from the e-mail. Some systems insert invisible characters that will screw up the search.

In the message we sent you, beneath the e-mail address we provided, you'll also see a temporary password that you can change after logging in.

Q. I can't find the renew button but it says my membership is good until Jan 2016?

A. The Renew button will appear when you have 90 days or less left in your membership (changed from 60 days on 10/7/15). Renewal reminders will be sent to the e-mail address that we have on file 60 days, 30 days and 7 days prior to expiration. Those who choose not to renew will be removed from our Meetup site within 30 days. They can renew and rejoin our Meetup later if desired.

Q. I am not seeing any boxes to check regarding being over 18 and no button to chose to "renew" membership and make payment. I have tried in both ie9 and Chrome. Is there a specific browser requirement for renewing?

A. You'll only have the opportunity to renew within 90 days of expiration (changed from 60 days 10/7/15). At that point, an additional button will appear in your profile.

The "Over 18" will be on the subsequent screen after you click the renew button. Checkbox is just below the liability waiver text (the lawyerly-looking crap). I think it highlights if you neglect to check and then try to proceed.

Q. I could not find where to change the new assigned password. Can you advise?

A. Once you log in and see your profile, you can click the "Edit Profile" button. That will present a form where you can edit your profile data. There is a text link just above the Submit Changes button that reads "Click here to change your password."

Q. Can I change my own e-mail address in the Edit Profile screen?

A. Your e-mail address is one of the only things you must request from the system administrator by e-mailing "info@cyclefolsom.com"

Q. I'm having trouble renewing my membership. The prompts put me into PayPal (which I have an account for) and then PayPal says there's a problem with my profile and then sends me back to the merchant. Is there any other way to pay?

A. The only alternative I have is for you to mail a check. Not sure if it would be easier for you to make a quick call to PayPal to see if they can straighten it out, or to send a check. I called PayPal last for separate issue that was unrelated to Cycle Folsom and I was surprised to be able to get a live person fairly quickly, like within a couple of minutes.

To get PayPal's phone number and a support code, do the following:

  1. Visit PayPal.com and login to your account.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the window and you'll see a line of text links at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click on "Contact"
  4. On the next page, click on the "call us" link.
  5. The page will refresh and you will be presented with a toll free number, as well as a code that you will likely have to enter when you call in.
  6. Shortly after you enter the code, a customer service agent should pick up. In my experience in was less than 2 minutes at around 6pm PST.

If you choose to send a check, please make it payable to Stan Schultz, 215 Gainsborough Circle, Folsom, CA 95630.

Again, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. I have not received any other reports of payment problems.
